Q: What are the differences between Meibox and MX2 MX2 is the culmination of feedback from our doctors and users of Meibox. Doctors wanted increased versatility with their technology. As a result, we rebuilt the Meibox Software and created MX2 to address the needs of our original users. With the creation of MX2, we created a complete platform for external ocular imaging that includes white light, fluorescein and infrared capabilities in a convenient platform. MX2 has built in filters and illumination sources that allow for quick lighting adjustments to capture images with stunning resolution. The new MX2 software platform also offers doctors the ability to perform measurements of the pathology and enhance them with a host of image processing capabilities.
Q: Can both be utilized as a handheld imaging solution? The MX2 is the only device with a patent pending convertible slit lamp attachment that can also become handheld. The Meibox is suitable mainly for slit lamp image capture only.
Q: Is MX2 billable? Yes! We listened to our doctors and as Meibography is a non billable code, we wanted to add an additional source of revenue for doctors. Meibography can still be performed and charged privately to patients using the CPT Code 0507T and by changing the illumination to traditional capture, a clinician can now bill for capturing pathology with the 92285 CPT code.
